Con\u00e7u \u00e0 l'origine comme un terrain de plaisance royal par William Augustus, fils du roi George II, la construction du lac a commenc\u00e9 en 1752. Les cours d'eau ont \u00e9t\u00e9 endigu\u00e9s, les vall\u00e9es inond\u00e9es et le paysage remodel\u00e9 sous la direction de l'architecte Henry Flitcroft. Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il a m\u00eame \u00e9t\u00e9 ass\u00e9ch\u00e9 pour \u00e9viter qu'il ne soit utilis\u00e9 comme rep\u00e8re de navigation pour les avions ennemis. <a href=\"https:\/\/theflamingohiker.com\/fr\/thames-path-to-windsor\/\">Ch\u00e2teau de Windsor<\/a>. Achev\u00e9e en mars 1789, elle faisait \u00e0 l'origine partie des premiers plans qui incluaient une grotte. La Cascade est aliment\u00e9e directement par le lac, ce qui fait que son d\u00e9bit d\u00e9pend du niveau de l'eau. Apr\u00e8s de fortes pluies, elle devient particuli\u00e8rement spectaculaire, offrant aux visiteurs une exp\u00e9rience pittoresque et immersive. Cette ville \u00e9tait une plaque tournante du commerce et de l'architecture \u00e0 l'\u00e9poque de l'Empire romain. D\u00e9plac\u00e9es du British Museum au Windsor Great Park en 1826, les ruines ont \u00e9t\u00e9 arrang\u00e9es en une folie ornementale par l'architecte Sir Jeffry Wyatville, cr\u00e9ant ainsi un \u00e9l\u00e9ment pittoresque dans le parc.
