It was my first walk of 2020. I was so excited for the new year and all these new walks I would be doing. That is without mentioning that of course two months later, the country would be going on a national lockdown and I would have to pause hiking for three months.

There are a lot of things people get for their birthdays: a cake, a gift, or a party. For me last year, was a birthday walk! At the start of 2020, I made two New Year’s Resolutions: quit smoking and hike at least twice a month. By my birthday on 17th January, I had not touched a cigarette and I was on my second walk of the year! I was on track, but that was of course without saying that a global pandemic would send the world into lockdown a month and a half later.

Looking for a walk in London? Why not try the Thames path? This long-distance trail follows the longest river in England for 184 miles (296km). Part of the trail passes by London, from Richmond to Dickensian, for 79.5 miles (127.94km). In this post, I am taking you on a portion of the Thames path from Belvedere to Greenwich.

Should we walk from Margate to Ramsgate or from Ramsgate to Margate? Whichever way you want to do this walk, it is one of the most popular hikes on the South Coast and a MUST-DO! It is another walk ending in a pub for a Sunday roast, so read all the way to the end: you do not want to miss the best bit.

Let’s take you on another North Downs walk from Otford, where we ended the last walk, to Oxted. I would advise you to do the walk that way and finish in Oxted as you will find more pubs and restaurants there for a rewarding drink and meal at the end! I know last time I advised you to end at Otford for drinks and food but that was in comparison to Cuxton where there are very few places. This time, your best option is Oxted, where we end this walk with a nice traditional pub meal.
